Whether you are a naturally organized person or an unorganized hot mess like me, you will still learn some great organizing the linen closet hacks from this post.

I recently had an avalanche of towels, top sheets, and bottom sheets (you know the kind only witches know how to fold correctly) fall on me while I was trying to rush and put a load of laundry away. This mess that was dumped at my feet when all I needed to do was put these towels away so I could drive my kid to her basketball game.

I decided then and there I needed to get a handle on this situation and teach myself some organizing skills so I don’t want to burn this closet down everytime I open it. Here are a few CHEAP and EASY hacks I learned on how to organize your linen closet.

First things first, take everything out of the closet and wipe down the shelves.

BASKETS are your friend! If you don’t want to waste precious time trying to perfectly fold the fitted bottom sheet, simply neatly roll and put in a basket. If you have multiple size beds in the home, have a basket for each size. If you want to get fancy and label the baskets, go for it!

Purge those old sheets and towels! You might as well toss out all those old nasty towels and sheets that you have had forever. A decluttered linen closet is a happy linen closet… and it can’t attack you by falling on you.

Have a designated spot for everything.

  • Bath towels
  • Hand Towels
  • Wash cloths
  • Pillowcases
  • Top sheets
  • Bottom sheets
  • Blankets
  • Extra toiletries

If you have someone in the home that also puts laundry away, let them know how you organized the closet so they can be respectful of your hard work and help you keep it organized.

Use a clear container for small toiletries that you may have in your closest. You want those items seen so you know they are there but also in containers so they aren’t getting pushed around and hidden by accident.

There you have it, simple but useful tips on keeping the linen closet clean and organized. The hardest part was making myself do it and I am glad I did. 6 months later and the closet is still looking perfect!
